Every year the Iranian Short Film Association (ISFA) presents one of the significant Iranian Cinema figures with the ISFA emblem at the ISFA Awards. As an unwritten rule, the handing out of the award is on the person who received it the previous year. Last year, at the same time the exclusive Iranian Short Film Association booth at the Museum of Cinema debuted, Amir Naderi awarded the emblem to Sohrab Shahid Saless posthumously (through a video that was screened at the ceremony). We later put the award at the ISFA booth at the museum in commemoration. This unwritten rule was broken when we decided to award Parviz Kimiavi, the experimentalist filmmaker and a pioneer of new Iranian cinema, because Sohrab Shaheed Saless wasn\u2019t among us to award his old friend. Unfortunately, since Master Kimiavi wasn\u2019t present at the ceremony, we gave the award to his nephew to send to the village in Germany in which he resides. <\/span>In a blink of an eye, we will get to the 11<\/span>th<\/span> ISFA Awards and Master Parviz Kimiavi, albeit thousands of miles away, is among us. I hope circumstances allow that next year at the closing ceremony, the emblem is awarded by Mr Kimiavi\u2019s own hands to the next filmmaker.<\/span><\/span><\/h1>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
